About the Faculty:                     
BE with an excellent academic record and as an university ranker,  ME in Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Heat & Power Engineering (IC Engines group) and (research experience gained through project on Energy Conservation in Indian Cement Industries at National Chemical Laboratory - CSIR Lab Pune in collaboration with B. K. Birla Group of Companies - Vasavadatta Cement Plant ), and PhD (Full Time with MHRD Fellowship for 4 years) in Energy from IIT  (Indian Institute of Technology) Guwahati (worked in the group of Prof. Manmohan Pandey and Prof. Pinakeswar Mahanta); Dr. Ranjit S. Patil joined to ENEA (Nuclear) Research Centre of Government of Italy as a Post Doctoral Fellow (PDF) and worked in the group of Dr. Giuseppe Zummo and Dr. Gian Piero Celeta, in the area of Energy & Process Heat Transfer in Two Phase Flow domain of Microtubes, later the position has been termed as a Researcher in ENEA  Rome - Italy.  During the tenure of research work  related to ENEA Italy,  he has visited to France (Paris), Austria, Hungary, Switzerland. Since last 16 years, he is working in the field of Fluid and Thermal Engineering for research and teaching. He has published his research work in reputed International conferences, Book chapters, and Journals like Elsevier, ASME, IMechE, Springer, ISHMT - ASME, etc.  He published papers in well known - reputed International conferences held at IITs, IISc Bangalore, conferences held at abroad - at Imperial College London UK, Bangkok, Krakow Poland, USA etc. In December 2011, he joined to department of Mechanical engineering and at present, he is working as an Assistant Professor in BITS Pilani - Goa campus, Goa. He is recipient of INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship Award for the year 2014-15 by Government of India. He is also recipient of OPERA (Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics ) Award by BITS Pilani for his excellence in  Research and Teaching.

Laboratory Developed: (Investment around Rs. 70 Lakhs)
 Multiphase Flow Laboratory has been developed to study the fluid dynamics and heat transfer characteristics of Circulating Fludized Bed (CFB) Boiler (heat exchanger) and of various micro-channels using nano-fluids.
 
All required euipments to do deep research have been purchased. Equipments  such as High Speed Camera, Data Acquisition System with NI Labview Software, Pressure and Temperature Sensors, Blower, Compressor (15 bar capacity), Cooling Tower, High Speed Computational Facility (Two Servers) for CFD Simulation work using Ansys, Mathematica, coding work using C programing language. CFB heat exchanger set-up and micro-channel test rig have been designed and developed. Some of the photographs are as below.
 
 
Funded Projects: 
1) BITS Research Initiation Grant (Rs. 2 Lakhs), 04/03/2014 to 03/03/2016.
"Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis of Two Phase Flow in Circulating Fluidized Bed".
 
2) OPERA Award by BITS Pilani (with  worth Rs. 8.28 Lakhs for Research) in January 2015 and in May 2017.
 
3) Received BITS Additional Competitive Research Grant (Rs. 2.50 Lakhs) on 4th August 2015 to perform the research work for the project entitled "Effect of Novel Design of Cyclone Separator on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Pressurized Circulating Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger". (High Speed Computational Facility has been purchased).
 
4) This grant has been sanctioned to develop the experimental facility at BITS Pilani - K K Birla Goa Campus. Received Grant from  DST Govt. of India (Rs. 27 Lakhs and 66 Thousands) for 3 years on 13th August 2015. One JRF position also has been sanctioned. Project entitled as "Computational and Experimental Investigations on Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer Characteristics of Two Phase Flow in Atmospheric Circulating Fluidized Bed Heat Exchanger with Novel Designs of Distributor Plate".
 
5) Project entitled "Integrated Renewable Energy Technology for Biomass Conversion to Clean Power and Process Development for Emissions Utilization" submitted to CPRI (Ministry of Power) Bangalore of worth Rs. 6 Crores in collaboration with IIT Guwahati, Jadhavpur University Kolkata, CSIR-CMERI Durgapur.
  (Note: Project Submitted on 1st October 2016. Comments Received on 30th April 2017. Positive Comments are received from all Reviewers. They are asking to reduce the Total Cost of Project. Total cost of the project should be around Rs. 5 Crores. Project has been revised and resubmitted and it is now under review again since June 2017.)
