In early 2005, I earned my doctoral degree in Biochemistry from the University of Madras. Following this, my professional association with BITS Pilani began at the Chennai off-campus centre. I have been mentoring Practice School (PS-II) students during their final year Internship in various organizations in Chennai. Other key responsibilities include co-ordination of two off-campus biomedical programmes. I have also been involved in teaching classroom/laboratory courses in these progammes.
Sankara Nethralaya (Chennai), an eminent institution for eye-care and vision research, has had a long-standing collaboration for biomedical programmes with BITS Pilani. Since 2005, my primary research activities have been in collaboration with Dr. S. Krishnakumar (Ocular Pathology Laboratory) and other researchers at Sankara Nethralaya. This has been possible through project grants from ICMR and DBT (Govt. of India, New Delhi). Three students are currently pursuing their doctoral research at Sankara Nethralaya under my co-supervision in areas related to cancer biology and clinical management.
Other ongoing research efforts are with Dr. Padma Murali (off-campus faculty colleague from Dept. of Mathematics) and Dr. M. Surianarayanan (Dept. of Chemical Engineering - Central Leather Research Institute, Chennai).
