Overview-Mission and Vision

About the Department

The Pharmacy department of BITS Pilani is one of the few early schools of Pharmacy in India. Established in 1950, under the able leadership of (Late) Prof. M. L. Schroff, Father of Pharmacy Education in India, it blossomed into one of the most sought after Schools of Pharmacy in India due to its broad-based education system and university-industry linkages, which is the hallmark of BITS, Pilani.

In the year of 2011, the Department of Pharmacy has completed 60 years of its existence as a premier institution in the field of Pharmacy Education and Research in India and abroad. The Department is continuously undertaking research projects funded by industries and governmental funding agencies like CSIR, UGC, AICTE, DST and MHRD. Ph.D. degrees have been awarded to about 60 candidates till now. Alumni are well placed in India as well as abroad in various pharmaceutical companies, government organizations like drug control, research laboratories, etc., and in several well-known academic institutions.

Research

The Department is continuously undertaking research projects funded by industries (Incisive Element LLC. USA, Slayback Pharma, Morning side, Colorcon, Etica ClinPharma, Zeon Ltd. etc) and governmental funding agencies like DST-SERB, DST-Nanomission, DBT, ICMR and CSIR. The department of Pharmacy currently has 15 faculty members and 51 full time, 06 part-time and 02 aspirant fellows registered as Ph.D. students.
The faculty and the students of the department are being recognized on both International and National platforms. The department also boasts of having 2 faculty start-up ventures- Nanobrid Innovations Pvt. Ltd.  and Vnnovate Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.

A Symposium on Drug Delivery and Translational Research

Department of Pharmacy, BITS Pilani is organizing "A Symposium on Drug Delivery and Translational Research" from 25th to 26th February 2023.
 

News & Announcement

 Congratulations to Ms. Reena Jatyan, Ph.D. student working with Prof. Deepak Chitkara, has been awarded 2nd Prize in poster presentation in the Pharmaceutics category for her work “Fatty acid conjugated temozolomide for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme” as well as a cash prize of Rs 7,500/- at the NIPER Pharmacon, 2022 organized by NIPER-S.A.S Nagar, Mohali, from 10 to 12 November 2022. 
 
 Congratulations to Ms. Srividya Gorantla (PhD Scholar working with Dr. Gautam Singhvi and Prof. Ranendra N Saha) on receiving the 'Research Award 2021-2022'- Winner Position under Jeevanam category in the '22nd Annual Science Awards and Memorial Oration Function of Dr. K. V. Rao Scientific Society' for presenting the research work. 
 
 Congratulations to Ms. Nisha Yadav (DST Inspire Scholar) and Ms. Sakshi Jagetiya (M. Pharm. 2nd year) working with Prof. Paul Atish Tulshiram for receiving 3rd Prize for "Best Poster Presentation" for their research on discovery on natural product based potential pancreatic lipase inhibitors at the National Symposium on "Integration of AYUSH Medicines and Ethnopharmacology: A strategy towards Evidence-based Medicines". The symposium was organized in collaboration with the Society for Ethnopharmacology (SFE) at NIPER, S.A.S. Nagar (Punjab) on 4th October 2022.
 
 Congratulations to Mr. Saibhargav Narisepalli, Ph.D. scholar working with Prof. Anupama Mittal, for receiving the Best Poster Award (Category: Nanotechnology and Drug Targeting) for his research paper entitled "Asiaticoside Nanoparticles for Effective Healing of Diabetic Wounds through Increased Collagen Biosynthesis: In vitro and In vivo Evaluation" by Manipal Pharmaceutics Conference 2022 (MPCON) at MCOPS, MAHE between 22-24 September 2022.
