  • Mr Devanarayanan V. P.,  Department of Physics, BITS Pilani has received Best Poster Award in an "International Conference on Soft Materials" held at MNIT, Jaipur during 6th  to 10th Oct, 2014.
  • Dr. Didier Sebbileau from CNRS (France) visited BITS, Pilani for two months under International project on MsNano of European Commission in which 9 institutes from world are participating including Dr. Rakesh Choubisa, BITS, Pilani.
  • The Department of Physics, BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus organized an in-house symposium on 23rd March 2014, to facilitate sharing of research activities and exploring newer areas of frontier research.
  • Department of Physics, BITS Pilani organized a workshop and training on Current Research Trends in Condensed Matter-Material Science from on dated 7 - 8 March 2014.
  • Department of Physics, BITS Pilani has successfully organized an Autumn School on Cosmology from 5th to 15th Nov 2013 in association with IUCAA, Pune.
  • Recently Department of Physics has started its own departmental library. Library comprises of about 160 books covering vast range of topics of fundamental importance.

  • Dr. Jayendra N Bandyopadhyay has delivered Colloquium in Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai Univ., Mumbai, India, 19th February, 2013.
  • Dr. Jayendra N Bandyopadhyay has delivered prestigious Physics Colloquium on “Quantum Coherence and Biology” in Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai, India, 18th February, 2013
  • Dr. Jayendra N Bandyopadhyay has delivered an ivited lecture in the International Workshop on Quantum Biology, Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur, India, 25-27 January, 2013.
  • Dr. Jayendra N Bandyopadhyay has delivered an ivited lecture in International Conference on Quantum Information and Quantum Computing, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, 6-11 January, 2013.
  • Dr. Rakesh Choubisa visited three Institutes in Europe for 6 months as a Marie Curie Researcher in the International project “FP7-People-IRSES MSNano network”, which is being sponsored by European Comission under its International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES). He visited Universite de Rennes1, Rennes (France), Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republik, Pargue (Czech Republic) and Instituto Nazionale de Fisica Nucleare, Frascati, (Italy).
  • Dr. Amol Holkundkar visited BARC for a collaborative work and given a presentation on "Proton acceleration by circularly polarized travelling electromagnetic wave" on 8th July 2013.
  • Dr. Manjula Devi visited IISC Bangalore for a collaborative work with Dr. S. Sindhu and Raman Research Institute, Bangalore for collaborative work with Prof S Kumar.
  • Dr. Anshuman Dalvi has delivered an invited talk "Thermal studies on materials: A case study on superionic glasses" in a workshop: “Short term course on characterization of materials” at "Physics department, Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur" on dated June 20, 2013.
  • Dr. Raj Kumar Gupta visited Raman Research Institute, Bangalore for collaborative work with Prof S Kumar and Prof Lakshminarayanan
  • Dr. Tapomoy Guha Sarkar visited the Department of Physics and Meteorology, Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur for collaborative research from 10th June-20th June 2013.
  • Dr. Tapomoy Guha Sarkar taught a course on General Theory of Relativity at the SERC Preparatory school on Theoretical High Energy Physics held at Tezpur University from 1st July to 13th July 2013.
  • Dr. Rishikesh Vaidya recently gave a talk at the ICTS "Program on CP Violation in elementary particles and composite systems" held during 19-23 February, 2013 at the Fountain Hotel, Mahabaleshwar. The title of the talk was "Electric Dipole Moments of Neutron, Deuteron and Mercury in Supersymmetry without R-parity".
  • Dr. Anshuman Dalvi  has delivered an invited lecture on “Science in India: Glorious past and challenges” in 15th INSPIRE Science camp for school children at center for development of Physics education (CDPE), Physics department, University of Rajasthan on 30th March 2013.
  • Dr. Navin Singh has delivered an invited lecture on “Physics of DNA” in 15th INSPIRE Science camp for school children at center for development of Physics education (CDPE), Physics department, University of Rajasthan on 30th March 2013.
  • Dr. Madhukar Mishra has recently given a talk on "J/psi suppression in colour screening scenario at SPS, RHIC & LHC" at XX DAE - BRNS High Energy Physics Symposium 2013 held at Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan, West Bengal, India during 13th January - 18 January, 2013.
  • Dr. Tapomoy Guha Sarkar participated in the ASTRONOMICAL SURVEYS SYMPOSIUM (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai) and presented a talk titled " Primordial Non-Gaussianity in the Lyman alpha Forest" on 19th December 2012.
  • Research paper titled "Conformational and Orientational Ordering in 2D Superlattices of Brominated Porphyrins" by S. Gangopadhyay, et. al has been presented in "Interdisciplinary Surface Science Conference (ISSC-19)" held at East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, U.K., during 25th-28th March, 2013.
  • Dr Subhashis Gangopadhyay presented a paper titled "Evolution of Ge quantum dots on clean and H nanopatterned Si(110) surface during annealing: a STM investigation" in 100th Indian Science Congress (ISC), held at Calcutta University, Kolkata, during 3rd-7th January, 2013.
