Courses offered by Chemical Engg Department

Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering that deals with chemical and physical processes used to develop and make many products. Chemical engineering applies fundamental principles in physics, math, chemistry, and biology to chemical and biochemical processes. When a new compound is discovered in the lab, this compound is nothing more than a laboratory sample unless a chemical engineer use his or her knowledge to quantify, scale up, test and produce the compound as a final product.
The curriculum is designed to equip the students with essential knowledge and necessary skills to enable him to undertake above tasks. In the first year, foundation is laid with courses on sciences, humanities, math and statistics, and professional communication. In subsequent years, the student is taught a wide spectrum of core as well as allied courses; such as fluid, heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, reactor design, process control, process design, material science, etc. In addition, there is a wide pool of electives available to students, containing courses such as transport phenomena, chemical process technology, process plant safety, environmental pollution control, polymer technology, refrigeration and air-conditioning, biochemical engineering, combustion engineering, and petroleum refining, etc.   The curriculum emphasizes on hands-on session for each course as much as possible. This will help students design, explore new frontiers and advance their knowledge at a much deeper level. Finally, students get a chance to be a part of departmental research work during the curriculum by taking project based courses.

    The aerial robot, developed by students of BITS Pilani at the Dubai campus won the first position in the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) held recently in  North Dakota, United States.
