Dr. Vinnarasan Aruldoss

I joined the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in April 2019. Previously, I held research posts and teaching assistantships at Goldsmiths, University of London (2018), University of Sussex (2014-2017) and The University of Edinburgh (2009-2013). 
I hold a PhD in Social Policy (The University of Edinburgh, UK), a Masters (Sacred Heart College) and an MPhil in Social Work (Loyola College), and a bachelors in Statistics (Loyola College) from University of Madras.
Prior to my doctoral research, I worked outside academic as a social development practitioner for eight years. In particular, I directly worked with internally displaced population after 2004 Tsunami in South India: I directed the implementation of community based psychosocial intervention programme at the district level in the emergency relief camp settings with Medicines Sans Frontieres (MSF-B). I also worked with the UNDP and Indian Planning Commission at New Delhi on the preparation of District Human Development Reports (DHDRs) and mainstreaming human development concerns in the state plans. Also, I have worked with and consulted for third sector organisations on a range of social development programmes, especially on children's rights and education.
