I joined BITS in May 2012 and have a background in Development Studies and Political Studies. I have been involved in teaching courses in Political Theory and Development Studies as Instructor-in-Charge. I have also co-taught a course in Development Economics and Technical Report Writing. I completed my PhD in 2019 in which I undertook a study of the dynamics of land-use in Goa.
Before joining BITS, I
taught an introductory course in Humanities & Social Sciences to
students pursuing a BA (Philosophy) and assisted in designing and
delivering a course on Globalisation & Development at the Department of Sociology, Goa University. Prior to this, I worked at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi where I was involved with research projects on democracy in South Asia and Indian electoral politics.
I have also been involved with some social issues. In particular I have occupied myself with overseeing, analysing and sometimes agitating against variants of the Goa Regional Plan - an attempt to develop a broad strategy for Goa's development which includes preparing a land-use plan.
My formal education has been at the University of Oxford where I completed an M.Phil in Development Studies with a thesis on economic-liberalisation and the transformation of the city of Mumbai titled Making Mumbai A 'World Class' City under the guidance of Dr. Nandini Gooptu. I also have a Masters in International Studies and a BA in Economics from Goa University.
