The Department has separate research laboratories for analytical, organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. In addition, the undergraduate teaching laboratories include the general chemistry laboratory and chemical experimentation. There are a number of laboratory equipments in each of these laboratories such as rotary evaporators, digital melting point apparatus, microwave digestion apparatus, high temperature muffle furnace, UV-vis spectrophotometers, cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometer, orbital incubator shakers etc. The major equipments such as FTIR, Atomic Absorption spectrometer, Flourimeters, Chromatographic equipments, Polarimeters, Centrifuges, etc. are available in the Central Analytical Laboratory.
The BITS library provides print as well as online access to many renowned national international journals related to Chemistry.




1. Dr. Kavita Joshi, Sr. Scientist, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, visited the campus and delivered a talk on March 29, 2016. 
2. Prof. Brindaban C. Ranu, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Jadavpur, Kolkata, visited the campus and delivered a talk on November 5, 2015.
3. Dr. V Balaram, Scientist Emeritus, CSIR - National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, visited the campus and delivered a talk on October 27, 2015.
4. Prof. Benjaram M Reddy, Chief Scientist CSIR- Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad visited the campus and delivered a talk on October 9, 2015.
5. Dr. Pushpita Ghosh from Center for Theoretical Biological Physics, Rice University, USA delivered a talk on July 7, 2015.
6. Two new labs, (a) Spectroscopy, (b) Materials Chemistry & Catalysis were inaugurated on May 8, 2015.
