Overview
The Department of Chemical Engineering at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus has a strong general undergraduate academic program in chemical engineering that reflects the evolution of the Department. Over the years, the academic program has evolved in to a strong core curriculum complemented by electives in the important emerging areas of Chemical Engineering. This continually evolving program emphasizes on fundamental theory as well as practical applications in Chemical Engineering keeping in view the changing scenarios in this discipline.
The Department also offers a dynamic Higher Degree Programme – M. E. (Chemical) with opportunities and focus on basic and applied research in a wide range of areas. Opportunities are provided to students at all levels through live applied industrial projects to get acquainted with the latest developments in various areas of Chemical Engineering and related fields.
Apart from the basic and engineering sciences related to chemical engineering, the department provides a choice of courses in materials engineering, Energy studies, Environmental Engineering and Process Modeling and Simulation. Courses are being planned in Process Systems Engineering, Bio chemical engineering and Process Intensification studies in near future. Opportunities exist at both undergraduate and graduate level students to work on live industrial problems and focused research areas.
The department has initiated a vigorous research program leading to PhD degree in a few thrust areas through significant funding from Industry and the Government funding agencies.
In a short span of 7 years of its existence, the department of chemical engineering has seen remarkable developments in evolving curricula, teaching, laboratory infrastructure and research programs as well as consultancy and funded projects. It is poised for all round growth in the next few years spurred on through activities under the Vision 2020 - Mission 2012 program of BITS Pilani.
