About the Faculty

Dr. Narendra Nath Ghosh has received his M.Sc. (1994) and Ph.D. degree (1999) in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, India. He has pursued his post doctoral study in the Center for Composite Materials at University of Delaware (USA), Chemistry Department of University of Tennessee at Knoxville (USA) and Chemical and Materials Engineering Department of University of Kentucky at Lexington (USA). He has joined BITS, Pilani KK Birla Goa campus on 13th December 2004. His research areas include (i) development of novel chemical methodologies for synthesis of nanostructured oxide materials, (ii) advanced Mesoporous catalysts, (iii) Polymer-ceramic nanocomposites.

Dr. Ghosh is the recipient of TUBITAK visiting scientist fellowship award for the year 2006 and 2009, sponsored by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. In 2010 he has received “Research Exchanges with China and India award” by The Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) with Professor Gerard F Fernando of University of Birmingham, UK. Dr. Ghosh  visited  the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department of Drexel University (USA) as Visiting Research Professor during January 2012- June 2012.

Dr. Ghosh has published more than 50 research articles in peer reviewed international journals, invited book chapters, and International conference proceedings such as Progress in Polymer Science (5-Year Impact Factor: 25.197), Journal of the American Ceramic Society (One of the top journals in the materials science-ceramics category), Powder Technology, Journal of Porous Materials, Catalysis Communication, Journal of Polymer Science: Part A: Polymer Chemistry, Polymer International, The Journal of Experimental Nanoscience Nanostructured Materials, Chemical Communications, and so forth. He is coauthored of a paper which has been published as “Highlight paper” in Journal of Polymer Science: Part A: Polymer Chemistry and another paper which has been cited as “First in the Top three papers” of the Polymer International journal. His two papers, published in Powder Technology, have been ranked as one of the “Top 25 hottest articles”.

Dr. Ghosh’s research activity is sponsored by several funding agencies including Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Defence Research and Development Organization, Board of Research in Nuclear Science. Currently under his guidance one student has received PhD degree (2011), one has submitted thesis, one has registered for PhD and two are working as JRF in sponsored project.

Dr. Ghosh is collaborating with national and international researchers such as Gerard F Fernando of University of Birmingham UK, Prof Paul Millner of University of Leeds UK, Prof J P Lecompte of University of Limoges France, Prof Yusuf Yagci of Istanbul Technical University Turkey, Prof G R Palmes of Drexel University USA, Dr S R Vadera and Dr M K Patra, Defence Lab Jodhpur, Dr J Arunachalam, CCCM- BARC Hyderabad, Dr. V S Prasad NIIST Tiruvantapuram etc.
