Experience :

 Teaching 28 years of  teaching experience in Engineering Physics and Materials  Science at Post graduate and Under Graduate level. Guided students leading to Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. Degree.

 Research25 years of  research experience in the following fields: Biomaterials (Functionally Graded Coatings of HA Composites), Biodegradable scaffolds,  Micro-spheres, Surface modifications, Cell and Tissue Engineering, Synthesis and characterization of Nano hydroxyapatite and other oxide materials, Crystal growth of Semi-conducting materials (V-VI-VII group compounds)

 

Professional Experience :       

 Cell and Tissue Engineering

  • Surface modifications  of polystyrene plates by plasma treatment for cell seeding applications
  • Coatings of  materials like Poly D Lysine (PDL), Polyethylenimine (PEI), Hyaluronic Acid (HA) on Polystyrene, Primaria and Elisa 96 well plates
  • Splitting and counting of different cell types namely Hybridoma (HB67), Bone  tissue of Mouse

      ( MC3T3) and Embryo tissue of Mouse ( NIH3T3)

  • Fluorescence studies of cells seeded on OBS plates
  • Processing and characterizing highly porous scaffolding based on hydrogel technologies for integration of cellular components
  • Programming scaffolds with biological molecules capable of cell signaling for tissue engineering applications   

 Processing and characterization of hydroxyapatite

·         Synthesis of hydroxyapatite by wet chemical method

·         Characterization of the synthesized hydroxyapatite

·         Coatings of hydroxyapatite on titanium and titanium alloys substrates

·         Developing functionally graded coatings of Hydroxyapatite composites

 

Synthesis and characterization of nano materials

       Single crystal growth of  some calcium phosphates and V-VI-VII group compounds

·         Crystal growth of  Calcium phosphates and ferro-electric materials in sodium silicate gel

·         Optimizing the growth conditions

·         Controlling the effect of gel density, concentration of the reactants and gel density

 

       Biomimetics

·         Biomicking of Hydroxyapatite on brushite crystals

 

       Biodegradable scaffolds

·         Making of Hyaluronic and Alginate scaffolds for cell seeding

 

       3D printing of  Biomedical implants

·         3d  printing of  biomedical implants using Z-corp 3d printer

·         HA/Starch  starting materials

·         Successfully built scaffolds and  spinal cages

 

       Synthesis of hollow micro spheres of hydroxyapatite for controlled drug delivery

·         Making of hollow microspheres of hydroxyapatite by Spray Drying technique

·         Optimizing spraying parameters to control the particle size of the microspheres

·         Using appropriate binders and blowing agent to make a perfect hollow microsphere
