Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET)
An effective field theory for B meson decay
Interaction of energetic hadrons can be studied by using the SCET effective theory. Collinear and Soft degrees of freedom give rise to infrared divergences, hence the SCET effective theory separates these two. For the regions where E>> Λ (QCD non perturbative scale), the SCET effective theory separate perturbative effects from non- perturbative effects. Using this effective theory, we can calculate the CP violation in B meson decay within the Standard Model(SM) and hence we can also search for new physics beyond the SM.

Predicting Shocks, Crashes and Bubbles in Financial Markets
According to standard economic theory the complex trajectory of stock market prices is the faithful reflection of the continuous flow of news that are interpreted by traders. Large market losses result basically from bad surprises. However the fingerprints of these events can be predicted using the laws of physics.
