The following may give some glimpse into my creative endeavor.
1. India has a rich tradition of folk and other indigenous music forms. I have spent considerable time in understanding the Manganiars in Rajasthan and their music. My dream to have a short film on them is work in progress for a long time. It has been a continuing struggle to find time and money to complete the project. A short glimpse of the project will be here soon.
Two students of BITS Pilani, Goutham Sekhar (Chemical Engg) and Arjun Kodur (Pharmacy) , closely worked with me during 2014-16 on this project. Though they were students of engineering and pharmacy, they joined the project after completing an elective course on ‘short film and video production’ taught by me. I can say with confidence that these two bright and committed students illustrate the spirit of humanities enhancing the engineering and science education leading to a holistic experience.
2. A short video on the New Academic building that was inaugurated at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus in 2014. This building was part of ‘Project Parivarthan’ to modernize Pilani campus. This video captured the imagination of more than 50,000 viewers, possibly most of them BITS Alumni.
This video was made with minimum equipment: a DSLR, a tripod, and mini trolley (Jugaad). Students Goutham Sekhar and Arjun Kodur were my team members. A tea-time companion to discuss our ideas was Ishan Shukla (a student of BITS, who had dropped out of BITS to pursue his interest in film animation and now is an acclaimed film maker).
