My research interest include biofuel (2G bioethanol, biodiesel, bio-crude) production from various low-cost substrates like lignocellulosic biomass, distillery or food processing wastewater. To offset the high production cost of biofuels it is essential to valorize any waste produced in the process. I am particularly interested in developing sustainable biorefinery models ensuring positive energy outputs by adopting process intensification strategies.
And also analyze the sustainability and feasibility for scale up of the processes by environmental impact analysis and techno-economic analysis.
My major research areas are highlighted below.
Bioprocess optimization
- Media optimization using statistical tools like RSM, PB, Taguchi
- Process optimization for improved biomass and product yield, scale up
Biofuel production
- 2G ethanol production using lignocellulosic waste
- Algal biofuel
- Optimization of pretreatment methods
- Valorization of waste
- Fuel properties
Hydrothermal liquefaction
- Process optimization
- Effect of catalysts/solvents on product yields
