An Abstract on Research Coverage: Research work is being done in the area of nano-chemistry/solid state chemistry. Nano-materials can be synthesized by various techniques: these would include chemical methods (Such as: sol-gel, use of inorganic precursors, solid-gas reactions etc.) and physical methods (materials in the form of thin film and nano-inclusion in the thin film). The idea is to focus the materials synthesis keeping in the view of novelty of synthetic methodology in addition to their technological properties. The research interest (multidisciplinary) may be focused on the fact that the synthesized materials would be characterized in order to ensure materials quality and properties study relevant to the technological properties of the materials. As materials property study can be of varieties: say magnetic, electrical properties, optical, catalysis, bio-applications: a few just to name, to start with focus would on synthesis, structural characterization and magnetic and electrical properties of the materials. The synthesis of Co based metal alloy particles with capped ligands and fabrication of thin films by chemical methods for magnetic and electrical property study would be in order. Another aspect may include synthesis of high surface area alloy, nitride and carbide materials for catalytic applications. Based on the above ideas, some oxide based nano-powder can also be tested. For example: Ferrites, doped perovskites, ortho-fettites based nano-materials.
