My research group seeks to understand molecular mechanisms involved in regulation of gene expression by RNA modifications and non-coding RNAs like micro RNAs and circular RNAs. We are particularly interested in understanding the roles of these gene regulatory processes in normal development and how defects in these mechanism may contribute to disease. We employ a variety of methodologies ranging from molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell biology to computational biology to investigate the above gene regulatory mechanisms in context of skeletal muscle development i.e. skeletal myogenesis and oral cancer.
