The department houses an astronomical observatory that is equipped with two telescopes, a 6” refracting telescope, and an 11" Celestron's Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The observatory has recently procured a CCD camera which can be used with the 11" telescope to obtain long-exposure, high quality images, of nebulae and star-clusters. There are 30-40 student members of the Club, who are from different disciplines and years.
Astro Club makes a regular use of both the telescopes to observe celestial objects on a fortnightly basis. In addition, they organize following activities:
