At present, I am working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani (Pilani Campus). I earned my PhD in Civil Engineering (Geoinformatics specialization), whereas my Bachelor and Masters degrees are in Mathematics. Due to the interdisciplinary academic background, my research interests frequently overlap the realms of statistical seismology, geophysics, and space geodesy. In statistical seismology, I am interested in the distribution of earthquakes in space and time for possible long-term earthquake forecasting. Using statistics, I try to understand how earthquakes cluster, how they interact, and how the empirical modeling results can correspond to the physical attributes of the earthquake generation process. In crustal deformation monitoring from GPS geodetic observations, I am interested in developing a suitable Indo-Eurasia tectonic plate coupling model for interseismic strain distribution and earthquake hazard estimation in the Himalayan zone. Taken the statistical and geodetic modeling together, my study aims at providing a feasible solution for the nationwide earthquake monitoring and seismic hazard mitigation (earthquake insurance). In addition to my curiosity towards science, I have keen interest in teaching and mentoring activities.
