A few facts about BITS-P

Birla Institute of Science and Technology Pilani is an autonomous non-profit institution of higher education and research (deemed university), whose foundation is laid on structured and interdisciplinary learning. The Institute is indeed a dream come true of its founder late Mr. G. D. Birla - an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation Mahatma Gandhi. What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing named BITS-P, as we know it today. Since its endowed establishment BITS-P is striving to be an exemplar in the transformation of higher education and research in India. At present, BITS-P has four campuses located in Pilani, Dubai, Goa and Hyderabad – all governed by a Vice Chancellor and campus-specific directors for a streamlined administration. As deserved, BITS-P earned the “Institute of Eminence” status by Government of India, along with a few other elite Institutions of the country in 2018.
