Climate change has been set into motion caused by global warming due to the burning of fossil fuels. In this context, solar fuels have gained significance as a source of clean and renewable energy. My research focuses o n harnessing this unlimited energy towards the production of biofuels such as hydrogen as well as short chain carbon compounds. My expertise encompasses both fermentative and molecular studies. Over the last few years, I have also developed a keen interest in Synthetic Biology and the possibilities to custom design and engineer microbial cells to express novel compounds.
