Ongoing
There are two ongoing projects, one relates to the longue duree history of trust and business practices in modern India. This is an integral part of the Indo-European Advanced Research Network that I coordinate with Professor Yannick Le Marchand (University of Nantes). The project is designed to generate new kinds of research questions and organizes brain storming workshops within a pre-selected group. I am personally involved in writing a monograph on the subject. Two chapters are complete and I propose to finalize it by the middle of next year. The work will bear the insignia of the Institute of Advanced Studies, Nantes.
The second project, sponsored under the Godrej Archives scheme in Mumbai looks at the history of three iconic Godrej products - the Storewel, the Office Chair and the the Godrej Refereigerator in order to understand the social life of material objects as well as to review the history of a manufacturing firm like Godrej & Boyce. It proposes to understand the way in which objects shaped the material imagination of a changing middle class in twentieth century India.

Project on Gandhi and Sonic Nationalism. I was commissioned to write a history of Gandhi and his reflections on Music as part of the 150th birth anniversary of the Mahatma. The work was commissioned by Roli Books and will be published by October of this year. The project is complete and awaits the finalization of copyrights for images.
