Thesis & Synopsis

  1. Cloning and Expression of Gyrase A of Plasmodium falciparum.
Mentor: Dr. Saman Habib, Scientist C, CDRI, Lucknow
Malarial   Parasite (Plasmodium falciparum)   was   target using  apicoplast   genome as it does not has any reliable medicine to act on still. I targeted  Gyrase because it is very important to maintain the linking number and coiling along with the proper negative supercoiling.
  2. Contig Design and in-silico Gene Prediction
    Mentor: Dr.CVS Sivaprasad , Scientist C , BioInformatics
I   found   out   contigs   on   system   for   selected   genes  and   designed  contigs using Blast searches and did the Modeling Simulation for it too.
  3. Heavy Metal Removal from Industrial Waste
Mentor: Dr. SK Verma, Associate Professor, BITS, Pilani
An extensive study was carried out on the concepts involved and the industrial applications of the Purification Systems with specific importance given to the Cyanobacteria.
  4. Homology   Modeling   of   a   Hypothetical   Cell   Surface   Protein   AMA1   of Plasmodium falciparum using Modeller 8
Mentor: Dr. Shibashish Chowdhary, Assistant Professor, BITS, Pilani
An arbitrary  protein was  taken and model  is  designed for that using BioInformatics tools to target Malarial Parasite
  5. Micropropagation of medicinally important plant species like Citrus limon &Withania somnifera.
Mentor: Dr. Jitendra Panwar, Assistant Professor, BITS, Pilani
This was a lab oriented project in which I have standardized the initial parameters in the issue   culture   of   this   plant species   like   the   standardization   of   the   growth   hormone concentration for the shoot initiation process.
  6. ELISA analysis of various peptide variants of the epitope of AMA1 (Apical Membrane Antigen 1)
Mentor: Dr. Vidya Rajesh, Assistant Professor, BITS, Pilani
Here   we   screened   the   blood   of   various   malaria   patients   to   check   the   epitope   variant present using ELISA.
  7. Identification of Epitopes of Plasmodium Vivax Ama1 Using Bioinformatics Tools and Study of Immunological Properties of Expressed Protein.
Mentor: Dr. Vidya Rajesh, Assistant Professor, BITS, Pilani
Here we traced the probable epitopes in AMA1 gene for giving insight about the role of this antigen in the malaria.
