Biographical sketch:
 
Dr. Prasanta Kumar Das obtained his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), Kanpur in 2003 in High Energy Physics.  He was a postdoctoral fellow at Harish-Chandra Research Institute(HRI),Allahabad from 2002 to 2004, Chung-Yuan Christian University, Taiwan from 2004 to 2005 and Institute of Mathematical Science(IMSc), Chennai from 2005 to 2007. He  joined the Physics department of BITS Pilani, K K Birla campus in July, 2007. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the department.   
  
 
Research interests: 
I am interested in particle physics phenomenology, astrophysics and cosmology. Currently, I am working on several phenomenological aspects of beyond the standard model(BSM) physics which can be tested in high energy colliders and astrophysical laboratory (e.g. star etc). Broadly, the topics of my research are  
  • Dark matter, Dark Energy and modified gravity theory
  • Supernova SN1987A cooling and BSM physics
  • Extra dimensional gravity, Supersymmetry and its phenomenology
  • Noncommutative geometry
