Laboratories:
Electrical Machines Lab:
Electrical Machines Lab provides the essential facilities to the students to augment their concepts about the fundamentals of transformers and rotating machines. It is well equipped Lab to provide experimental and hands-on experience to the undergraduate students as a part of their course curriculum. The students are exposed to the detailed study of characteristic and operational aspects of different electrical machines, viz, DC machine, AC machine, transformers etc. Through hands-on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience all of which help to increase the technical skills of students.
Power Electronics Lab:
Power Electronics Lab is being designed for the third year Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Instrumentation students. The lab aims at imparting practical outlook for conversion of power from one form to another. The introduction to different types of switches and their applications, design of circuits for power conversion and their applications are the primary goal of the lab. The students can further use the knowledge thus gained for various real life applications renewable energy system design.
Communication Systems Lab:
In Communication systems lab, there is a lot of scope for the students to study in detail about various types of Modulators and De-Modulators, Transceivers and Spectrum Analyzer along with the different types of Filters and their design and usage and also different types of Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) formats. In this lab, mathematical models are designed and simulated in MATLAB and perform the practical simulation using hardware kits. In microwave,X band signal is generated using Reflex Klystron or Gunn oscillator and transmitted through rectangular wave guide and detected by using detector. Detected signal can be seen on DSO and measurements of X band signal can be performed by using instruments such as Frequency meter, VSWR meter etc. Various microwave components characteristics can be tested. Horn antenna can be used to transmit as well as to receive the signal.
Analog & Digital Electronics Lab:
This Lab is associated with a compulsory disciplinary course and serves to consolidate fundamental concepts in the field of Digital Electronics. The objective of the lab is to impart knowledge of the basic tools for the design of digital circuits and to provide methods and procedures suitable for a variety of digital design applications. The lab provides laboratory practice using MSI devices and covers the topics on logic circuits and minimization, Combinational and sequential logic circuit design, Design and application of Counters, Arithmetic Circuit implementation, Shift register Applications etc. This lab also includes HDL tools like Verilog/VHDL which are used to describe and simulate different circuits.
Also This lab deals with various electronic techniques and building blocks used in analog signal processing. Experiments and projects using discrete IC modules will be carried out in the laboratory. The experiment topics range from study of basic circuits like common emitter amplifier, basic Op-Amp configurations etc. to advanced topics like Study of Filters, Oscillators and applications of Integrated circuit timers.
Signal Processing and Simulation Lab:
This undergraduate lab course provides analysis, design and practical Insights into waveform generation and filtering, signals, sampling, filtering, quantization, oversampling, noise shaping, and data converters, system training and calibration communication transmission and reception, Other applications include audio, biomedical and image processing. This course emphasizes tradeoffs in signal quality vs. implementation complexity in algorithm design, and is accessible by first-semester third-year undergraduates. In the course, students use signal processing theory to derive signal processing algorithms, convert signal processing algorithms to desktop simulations in Matlab, and map the algorithms onto embedded real-time software running on a Texas Instruments digital signal processor board.
Instrumentation Lab:
This Lab is equipped with transducers experimental setups, process control experimental setup and Virtual instrumentation components such as LabView etc.
