Research Interests


 PhD Positions available with joint RMIT Melbourne supervisors:

She seeks PhD candidates who want to solve problems under her supervision on the following research areas:
  1. Renewable Energy 
  2. Energy conservation / management / optimization in Buildings
  3. Power system operation, analysis, control and simulation 
  4. Intelligent Controller Design and Simulation 
  5. Lighting and lighting control
  6. Cognitive Radios
  7. IC design 

She is willing to go the extra mile to support PhD candidates that are passionate on solving real world problems, willing to be adaptable as the situation demands, and endure for the sake of achieving their goals. 

 
She mentored the project that has received an Expo Live grant as a part of University Innovation Programme.  The programme received over 500 applications coming from students from over 45 universities in the UAE. Each application was assessed equally by an evaluation body consisting of Expo 2020 Dubai Experts. 
 
Dr Gomathi Bhavani worked as a visiting scholar at Centre for Urban Energy at Ryerson university, Canada, under the University Exposure Abroad programme of BITS Pilani during June - August 2016.  The centre has state-of-the-art equipments and softwares and has active collaboration with Toronto Hydro, Ontario Power Authority and Hydro One which are the major players in the power and energy sector at Ontario, Canada. She worked on energy storage and renewables during the programme. Dr. Bhavani also interacted with the research teams working on the sponsored projects on Consumer-generated energy conservation and Performance of green buildings. She intends to use this invaluable experience to initiate new areas of research, incorporate the learning in improving class room instruction and formulate research problems to assign new technical projects to students.
