Innovate. Achieve. Lead.

Semester-wise Pattern for Students Admitted to M.E. Design Engineering Programme Semester

ME in Design Engineering envisages bridging the gaps between the academic and the real-world domains by preparing a new generation of innovators capable of translating their design engineering knowledge into meaningful products. The program encourages a student to think creatively, question analytically and collaborate broadly to design novel solutions to existing challenges. This 2-year post-graduation degree allows the student to either take up industry positions or delve into academic research. Additionally, Practice School (PS) component allows the student to get a flavor of working in the industry, where students in their final semester can opt for industrial internships, often leading to pre-placement offers in addition to generous stipends. PS helps the student to showcase their industry experience during on-campus placements.

The various courses offered in this program are tailored to develop key competencies required in Design Engineering. For example, the course in Finite Element Method (FEM) equips a student to analyze a design for failure as well as reduce resources by optimizing it. Additionally, this course also helps a student rapidly deploy their skills in the industry, where FEM is used extensively. The course in Product Design provides a philosophy to develop a systematic approach for designing components – leading to faster realization of a finished product. A detailed list of courses and electives can be found on this website that allows the student to develop core design competencies and flexibility to gravitate toward the field of their choice. The coursework is designed to cater to a plethora of industries such as automotive, aerospace, computational, conventional and alternate power industries to name a few. . For more details on the placement statistics, please see the brochure.
