  • Bachelor of Pharmacy

    The B. Pharm. curriculum at BITS Pilani has been designed meticulously such that the students apart from learning and understanding the pharmacy courses also gain exposure to other fundamental disciplines of core sciences like Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Language and literature, Technical art and Humanities.
     
    Apart from the regular courses, B. Pharm students are also given direct exposure to the professional world by means of Practice School (PS) method. The PS programme has two components, namely PS-I and PS-II for the Integrated First Degree students. PS are implemented at industrial complexes, research and development centers of pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, CSIR laboratories etc. It provides an opportunity for a detailed understanding of vast industrial operations and its various aspects such as inventory, productivity, management, information systems, human resource development, etc. In addition to this, students have options for choosing on-campus / off-campus thesis / dissertation in India / abroad for one semester during their final year of the program. These components of the B. Pharm. curriculum at BITS, Pilani makes students learn by a process of observation and participation and enable them to work in an organized and systematic manner.
     
    We at BITS Pilani, harbor another unique feature of offering Dual degree programs to B. Pharm students wherein, students can pursue another degree along with their regular B. Pharm. 
     
    These features make our curriculum very unique from any other institute offering B. Pharm all across the country. Since we follow such an integrated approach for B. Pharm program, students undergo an overall development and gain knowledge in multidisciplinary fields which is clearly reflected in the high-paying jobs they secure after completing their B. Pharm program.

  • Master of Pharmacy

    The M. Pharm. curriculum at BITS Pilani is offered as M. Pharm. (General Pharmacy), M. Pharm. (with specialization in Pharmaceutics), M. Pharm. (with specialization in Pharmaceutical Chemistry) and M. Pharm. (with specialization in Pharmacology) to provide a deeper understanding of specific pharmaceutical disciplines along with a practical training. The laboratory facilities include analytical instruments, equipments for pharmaceutical dosage form preparation and evaluation, computer aided drug design, drug synthesis and characterization, central animal facility.
     
    Apart from the regular courses, M. Pharm students are also given direct exposure to the professional world by means of Practice School-II (PS-II). PS-II are implemented at industrial complexes, research and development centers of pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, CSIR laboratories etc. In addition, students gain exposure to research by on-campus research practice and laboratory project like courses as integral component of their curriculum. Further, students have options for choosing an on-campus / off-campus thesis / dissertation in India / abroad for one semester during their final year of the program. One of the unique features of BITS Pilani is to provide teaching assistantship to the meritorious students, thus helping them in their professional development.

  • Mode of Teaching And Evaluation

    The Department emphasizes excellence in teaching and research. Teaching system at BITS is innovative, non-conventional and highly application-oriented with evaluation components being open/closed book tests, quiz, assignments, seminars, projects and end of the semester comprehensive examination. This kind of continuous evaluation provides an immediate feedback to the teachers regarding the student’s performance and their progress. It also provides students an opportunity to assess themselves. The academic flexibility offers the student an opportunity to choose elective courses as per the needs of their future career objectives. The students are permitted to do open-ended laboratory-oriented projects and study-oriented projects even at First degree level. Special emphasis is given in the use of computers and operation of sophisticated laboratory equipment. Some core subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry, engineering graphics and workshop practice, electrical sciences, computer programming, economics, management. Social sciences and languages are also common with other engineering and science degree programmes to provide a broad based education. At M.Pharm. level special courses like quality assurance and regulatory affairs, pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacy, molecular biology and immunology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, etc., are offered.
